Private AI

AI that keeps your drawings inside your building.

For defense work, export-controlled work or work under an NDA, the AI can run on your own network. We set it up, run it and hand you the records of where your data goes.

Where it goes wrong

Where a pasted drawing goes.

Pasting a drawing into a public AI chat takes a second. For a shop with defense, export-controlled or NDA work, that second can break the rules in your contracts.

Sample

  1. 1It was marked controlled

If your contract includes DFARS 252.204-7012, every system that handles a drawing like this has to meet the 110 security requirements in NIST SP 800-171.

  2. 2It left your building in a second

Ana only wanted to know what it's made of, and pasting it sent a copy outside your building. Many customer NDAs say exactly where their drawings can be stored.

  3. 3Nobody checked the tool

Under the same clause, a cloud service that stores or handles a drawing like this has to meet the government's FedRAMP Moderate standard or an equal one. Nobody at the shop checked whether this one does.

  4. 4Nobody can say who saw it

Under ITAR, technical data, drawings included, can't go to a foreign person without the State Department's approval, and showing it to one counts as an export, even inside the US. Once a drawing is in a public tool, you can't say who saw it.

How AI handles it

What changes when the AI runs in your building.

Your drawings stay on your network, AI opens controlled files only for the people you pick, and you get a record your assessor can check.

  1. 01

It runs on a computer in your building

AI reads your drawings on a computer on your own network, with no connection out to an AI company.

  2. 02

It opens controlled files only for the people you pick

You decide what's controlled and who can see it. When anyone else asks, AI stops and asks you.

  3. 03

    You get the proof

We hand you a map of where your data lives, a drawing of how it moves and a log of every question. Your assessor decides whether you meet the rules.

Questions

A few questions first.

What are our options?

There are three honest ones, and the right one depends on your contracts. The AI can run on a computer on your network, with no connection out to an AI company, so your drawings stay in a place you already control. Some AI services run in clouds built for government data, and they can work well, but they cost more and bring more paperwork. Or you can keep AI off controlled work and use it only on the rest. For some shops that's the right answer, and we'll tell you if it's yours.

Is AI on one computer good enough?

In October 2026 we tested a free AI model running offline on a single computer against a leading cloud model, on sample drawings we made ourselves. On clean drawings it read every detail we checked the same way the cloud model did, in about 33 seconds a drawing. On a smudged scan it filled in details it couldn't read and said it was sure, which is why simple rules, not the AI, decide what a person double checks.

Will you tell us we pass?

No. We build it, run it and hand you the proof: a map of where your data lives, a drawing of how it moves, which security requirements each part is built to support, and the logs. You decide what's controlled, your assessor decides whether you meet the rules, and your own official signs every statement to the government. We'll never tell you that you pass.

What if someone already pasted a drawing into a public AI tool?

That's a question for your compliance lead or your lawyer, so start there. If it counts as a cyber incident under DFARS 252.204-7012, the clause says it has to be reported to the Defense Department within 72 hours of finding it, and whether it counts is your call. What we can do is set up AI in your building, so the next question never needs a public tool.

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes. If your drawings or customer files are under an NDA, we sign one before we see anything, and we only see what you choose to show us. We work on controlled files through your own systems, like your remote desktop, so they never sit on ours.
